About the "Spirit of Columbus"The Spirit of Columbus Half Marathon & Two Person Relay is one of two events in the Spirit of America Half Marathon Race Series presented by Competitor Group, Inc.. The "Spirit Of" concept is about two things; the first is getting back to essence of "Racing". The second is about the "Spirit" of the community that is hosting the event such as Columbus and Pittsburgh. It's a celebration of your "Spirit" with this accomplishment and passion for running or race walking. Competitor Group, Inc., headquartered in San Diego, CA, is the leading endurance media and event entertainment company dedicated to promoting the sports of running, cycling and triathlon. Shuttle Service INformation (provided by Croswell Tours):PRE Race Shuttle Information From the Finish line to Start line:For those participants that are parking at the Finish Line Area, you will be able to take shuttles to the Start Line Area per these instructions. NOTE: Participants that need to go to the Start Line Area are SOLO HALF MARATHONERS or the Relay Team participant that is running the 1st LEG. IMPORTANT: The Relay Team participants that are doing the 2nd Leg need to catch the shuttle buses to the Relay Exchange Area, which will be different buses at the same pickup points. Shuttles to the Start Line Area will begin leaving the Finish Line Area at 5:45 a.m. with the last shuttle leaving at 6:45 a.m. The shuttle pickup point at the Finish Line Area is the corner of Spring Street and Neil Ave., so please use the local area parking and walk to the shuttle area for transport to the start line. Shuttle Information From the Finish line to Relay Exchange Area:For those Relay Team participants that are running the 2nd Leg, you will be shuttled from the Finish Line Area to the Relay Exchange Area per the information below. IMPORTANT: If you are the Relay Team participant running the 1st Leg, you will take the buses to the Start Line Area and NOT the Relay Exchange Area. Shuttles will begin leaving for the Relay Exchange Area at 6:30 a.m. The LAST SHUTTLES will leave for the Relay Exchange Area at 7:15 a.m. The shuttle pickup point at the Finish Line Area is the corner of Spring Street and Neil Ave., so please use the local area parking and walk to the shuttle area for transport to the Relay Exchange Area. The Relay Exchange DROP-OFF Area is located at Griggs Reservoir at the Nottingham Road entrance off of Riverside Drive. Once the 2nd Leg Relay Team participant is dropped off, the participant needs to proceed to the relay exchange area, which is south of the drop zone about a quarter mile. NOTE: The relay exchange is in Griggs Reservoir and NOT on Riverside Drive, so use the Griggs Reservoir park road south to get to the relay exchange. Shuttle Information From the start line to Relay Exchange Area:For those Relay Team participants that are running the 2nd Leg, you will be shuttled from the Start Line Area to the Relay Exchange Area per the information below. Shuttles will begin leaving for the Relay Exchange Area at 6:30 a.m. The LAST SHUTTLES will leave for the Relay Exchange Area at 7:15 a.m. The shuttle pickup point at the Start Line Area is "Coming Soon"., so please use the dedicated parking areas at Tuttle Mall and walk to the shuttle area for transport to the Relay Exchange Area. The Relay Exchange DROP-OFF Area is located at Griggs Reservoir at the Nottingham Road entrance off of Riverside Drive. Once the 2nd Leg Relay Team participant is dropped off, the participant needs to proceed to the relay exchange area, which is south of the drop zone about a quarter mile. IMPORTANT: The 1st Leg Relay participants will NOT be shuttled back to the Start Line Area, but to the Finish Line Area. If you parked at the Start Line Area (Tuttle Mall), you'll be able to take a shuttle from the Finish Line Area to the Start Line Area with your Relay Teammate. Shuttles will leave the Relay Exchange Area every 15 to 20 minutes depending on the local area traffic and access to the finish line area. begin leaving for the Relay Exchange at 6:30 a.m. The Relay Exchange PICK-UP Zone is located at Griggs Reservoir at the Nottingham Road entrance off of Riverside Drive. Once the 1st Leg Relay Team participant is done, the participant needs to proceed to the relay exchange shuttle pickup zone, which is north of the Relay Exchange Area about a quarter mile. NOTE: The relay exchange is in Griggs Reservoir and NOT on Riverside Drive, so use the Griggs Reservoir park road north to get to the Shuttle Pickup Zone. POST RACE Shuttle Information From the Finish line area to Tuttle Mall / Start Line area:For those participants that are parking at the starting line, you will be able to take shuttles back to the starting line / Tuttle Mall from the Finish line / area once your complete your race. CruisersMales that have a race day weight of over 200lbs - Females that have a race day weight of over 150lbs. IMPORTANT: Athletes do NOT have to categorize themselves as a Cruiser if they choose to participate in their age group division. Athletes in this category will be weighed at Packet Pick-Up for verification. |
Race WalkersRace Walkers will be monitored and must walk throughout the entire race course. If a Race Walker is caught running or jogging, that athlete will be disqualified from the Race Walking category and will be placed in their respective age group category for the purpose of timing and results. |
